What is Guthrie Test-?
What is Guithrie test? It’s now a weight loss pill or technique. Many of us do not understand the benefit of having Guthrie Test to our newborn baby. But before i proceed, let me tell you the definition of Guthrie Test or heel prick test, it is the medical test performed on newborn infants to detects some abnormal formalities. It is commonly known as Newborn Screening test also. It is being done by a professional health worker by pricking the heel of the baby and catching the blood on four spots on special paper test paper.
There are lots of health problems can be detected using these blood spots such as PKU or phenylketonuria, Cystic Fibrosis, Congenital Hypothyroidism and Smith Lemli Opitz Syndrome.This is important for the mother to have their baby these kind of screening. To have early diagnosis and proper treatment as well.
