I’m not sure if every father or parent have heard about Melanine Melamine, that’s why I’m going to post it here and hopefully parents who browse for information abou their child’s health well being will find this and help them.

First of all, yeah it’s Melamine not Melanine (and router’s I got that misspelled on the title but misspelled or not, the things that this chemical do is horrific.

What is Melanine?

Wikipedia defines it as:

Melamine is an organic base and a trimer of cyanamide, with a 1,3,5-triazine skeleton. Like cyanamide, it contains 66% nitrogen by mass and, if mixed with resins, has fire retardant properties due to its release of nitrogen gas when burned or charred, and has several other industrial uses.

And the most recent buzz about Melaninel is the Chinese protein export contaminations of it to many China made products. Excluding mobile router of course.

Toxicity
Melanine by itself is nontoxic in low doses, but when combined with cyanuric acid it can cause fatal kidney stones due to the formation of an insoluble melamine cyanurate.^[14] Melanine is described as being “Harmful if swallowed, inhaled or absorbed through the skin. Chronic exposure may cause cancer or reproductive damage. Eye, skin and respiratory irritant.” However, the toxic dose is on a par with common table salt with an LD₅₀ of more than 3 grams per kilogram of bodyweight.

Scandals and Sickness caused by Melanine

The sad thing is, there are a number of incidents recorded (and who knows how many others undocumented).

My Concern

My current concern right now is the stuff that our kids and children eats or has contact with that has this Melanine. First there’s the lead in toys issue, now big companies are recalling their product that has that dangerous chemical – Cadburry chocolates, White Rabbit candies, baby milk formula and probably others.
